These are sold as whole oats, otherwise known as oat groats, and are the untreated, natural oat berry that has had the inedible outer hull removed. Oat groats are a highly versatile food, and they are delicious in both sweet and savory recipes. We enjoy milling oat groats on a coarse setting and cooking on the stove top to make a creamy, flavorful oatmeal. You may also make rolled oats with a home roller or flaker.
